Nullland Reboot is the July 2021 installment of ’12 in 21’, a year-long series of month-long art/photography projects. It is an opportunity to delve into projects and interests usually pushed to the side. Visually there is no set agenda, just energetic exploration allowing the process to inform and inspire. Many of the projects are analog based.
Here are 6 images from the original Nullland series. I had begun this work a dozen years ago, created a few images, then put it to the side. Throughout the past 18 months Covid 19 related themes have sprung up in my work, most notably images and sculptures reminiscent of the spiked SARS virus protein. The Nullland series was originally devised as a statement about our tendency toward self-imposed alienation, but now it hauntingly speaks to the issue of quarantine and lockdown during this unsettling era.
