STUDY circa 1985 is an analog photo collage made from Kodak Instant Film.

MOTHER’S WELL 2017 is a digital photo collage made from images shot with Nikon D3400 and assembled with stitching software and Photoshop. It is a sly reference to Robert Motherwell’s Elegy to the Spanish Republic series.

GREENPORT SKETCH 1986 is an analog photo collage sketch made from Ilford XP1 film. The strips of film are straight out of the camera, taped onto a glass negative carrier, and enlarged onto color paper. Exposed with my trusty Olympus OM-1, which I had specially filed out by the esteemed Marty Forscher of Professional Camera Repair in NYC, to eliminate the spacing in between frames.
ASTORIA SOUVENIR 1983 is a single frame panorama shot with a Widelux camera. It depicts where I lived and worked for over 10 years in Astoria, NY. Chris Shipley, long-time roomate and art-punk running buddy, on right. Along with Jim Vitto and Chris’ brother Richard, (and other subsequent roomates) we commandeered 3 floors of this ex furniture showroom turned ex after hours club. Quite a ride.

LIZA SKETCH 1988 is a sketch multiple image of a picture of Liza Minelli found in a magazine. Photographed with color negative film and printed on Chromogenic paper, in a land before computers and Photoshop. I created effects in the enlarging /printing process using stencils to expose areas separately, changing color and exposure, and moving/spinning the easel under the enlarger to get the effects seen here.
