NOISY MAN

Sometime back in the mid-Eighties, dear friend Jerald Frampton and I thought it might be a good idea to join forces and create a photo studio together. He promptly came up with the name ‘Noisy Man’ and I set out to make a batch of film still life photos for some as-yet undefined portfolio… Within minutes of our fledgling endeavor, we scrapped it, choosing instead to look for other ways to spur our careers from hopelessly obscure to completely unknown. 35 years later this series became the starting point for the June 2021 installation of ’12 in 21′, AKA the Noisy Man Reboot

12 in 21 – June 2021

Noisy Man Reboot is the March 2021 installment of ’12 in 21’, a year-long series of month-long art/photography projects. It is an opportunity to delve into projects and interests usually pushed to the side. Visually, there is no set agenda, just energetic exploration allowing the process to inform and inspire. Many of the projects are analog based. In this series I am loosely working in still life, along with a little in-camera and Photoshop tweaking. Very loose and sketchy. 12 in 21 – May 2021 – Part 2

Light Painting is the May 2021 installment of ’12 in 21’, a year-long series of month-long art/photography projects. 12 in 21 is an opportunity to delve into projects and interests usually pushed to the side. Most of the work is analog based. Visually, there is no set agenda, just energetic exploration allowing the process to inform and inspire. In this month’s series I am revisiting light painting – using various lights, flashlights, lasers and sundry devices to create some visual pleasantries. Mostly straight takes, a little Photoshop here and there. Performance art in every frame! Enjoy the show and please subscribe.

Photograms is the April 2021 installment of ’12 in 21’, a year-long series of month-long art/photography projects. 12 in 21 is an opportunity to delve into projects and interests usually pushed to the side. Most of the work is analog based. Visually, there is no set agenda, just energetic exploration allowing the process to inform and inspire. In this month’s series I am going way back to the land of analog light, photographic paper, and trays filled with solutions to make a variety of photograms using traditional Ilford Black & White paper, and the occasional B&W reversal paper. I haven’t inhaled this many chemicals since the 80’s. Enjoy the show and please subscribe!

Working With Film is the March 2021 installment of ’12 in 21’, a year-long series of month-long art/photography projects. 12 in 21 is an opportunity to delve into projects and interests usually pushed to the side. Most of the work is analog based. Visually, there is no set agenda, just energetic exploration allowing the process to inform and inspire. In this month’s series I am working with old transparencies and negatives, mostly mine, mostly from my old stock photo files. There is a smattering of ‘found film’ throughout… I am physically shredding film, using a hole punch, painting, freezing them in ice, and sandwiching between glass then smacking with a hammer, among other things. Jolly good fun! I am reassembling the scraps, then digitally scanning or re-photographing. There is minimal Photoshop. This is the last of 4 installments for this project. Thanks for looking and please subscribe! See you next Month!
